Rise of the Runelords VA

Armail's Journal (cont'd)

I wish I was able to get these journal entries to my mother. Something tells me that she would understand me at these points in my life better than father would. I love him so much but I fear he is very far from the elven part of my heritage which urges me to reach out, discover new things, particularly new magics.

From Syphacia’s Letters:

Lorelein,

I think I’ve had an epiphany.

Dear Journal,

My Gods, this is getting insane. I have to wonder if this whole expedition to Thistletop was a mistake. We’ve taken a lot of wounds and spent a lot of our magic and we still have not accomplished our objective. My elven “friend” and kinsman nearly fell to their deaths. Aren’t elves supposed to be nimble. The more and more I learn about this parent race the more I question if the the stereotypes were are true. I just want to spend time in an elven community to find out more. I think I am begining to outgrow Sandpoint and its ways.

Syphacia versus the Goblins

From Syphacia’s Letters:

Lorelein,

So I’ve found a new set of ears. They’re not the most attractive pair in the world—they’re fetid green and sort of wrinkled—but they do have a certain appeal to them. You might say I’ve earned them.

Into the Goblin Den

Bruised and bloodied, I write this wondering if I will see tomorrow. I wonder now whatever possessed me to join this unlikely band of loons – and I freely admit that I am just as crazy as anyone else here.

Redgar Finds Doubt at Thistletop

Humans, by far, have to be the most irresponsible and most complacent of all the ‘intelligent’ races. They are the only creatures I know that would purposefully stick their noses in a hornet’s nest, get stung for their trouble, and then show too much laziness to have the creatures’ nest removed. No, they’d rather wait for someone else to do it, and then complain loudly when it wasn’t removed quickly enough or in the manner that they preferred.

I am amazed that we are all still alive. I am horrified that our quiet little town was hiding such evil in its foundations. I am terrified of what comes next.

I need a drink. And another, and another. I think by the time I hit the 4th I think I'll start feeling better.

The stupid dwarf got me puked on....

From Syphacia’s Letters:

Lorelein,

Have you ever had the feeling that some greater power were toying with you? That someone was standing above you, looking down, and just laughing their heads off? That’s how I feel about now. What’s happened over the last two days has been far too purposeful to be random chance, and far too irritating to be accidental. I think some bored god is messing with me.
